“Versus” by Kyungwoo Chen (2011)
Almost 50 strangers sat in a crescent-moon-shaped bench in Times Square on Monday. The South Korean artist Kyungwoo Chen, the creator of the performance “Versus”, instructed them to lay their heads on the shoulders of the unknown man or woman in front of them. They would have to be silent and stay still for 15 minutes. No talking. Cell phones turned off. They just had to relax and let their heads rest.
